Career Fair 2024

Held between 19 and 21 March, this year's Career Fair recorded a 40% increase in participating companies, with over 130 enterprises and organisations attending. They came from more than 25 industries, including business, professional services, technology, healthcare and social services. Together, they offered HKMU students over 5,000 local, Greater Bay Area and overseas job and internship opportunities.

Entrepreneurship Day

The Student Affairs Office held the second Entrepreneurship Day on 18 July to provide a platform for the startup community to connect, exchange ideas and explore collaboration opportunities. It also presented nine winning teams of MetroChallenge 2024 with an implementation fund of HK$100,000 each to execute their entrepreneurship projects. The awardees of MetroChallenge in 2023 and 2024 and alumni also took the opportunity to demonstrate their innovative business solutions by setting up booths at the event.

Bloom of students’ talents at the first HKMU Festival

The School of Arts and Social Sciences organised the first HKMU Festival on 22 March to provide students across the disciplines with an opportunity to conceive and hold a series of exciting arts and cultural activities, including dance flash mobs, busking, cultural booths, DIY workshops, Toastmasters Club debates and an evening Talent Show featuring a theatrical scene, a dance battle and a singing competition, unleashing their creativity and talents.

Nurturing scientific research talent

To foster students’ interest in scientific research and enhance their research capabilities, the School of Science and Technology launched a three-year Next Generation Scientist Incubation Programme (NGS-i Programme). Recruiting students in two cohorts, it trains students in four phases through research training, overseas exchange trips and research symposiums. Recently, the first cohort of students have completed phase one of the programme, with 15 top students selected to enter phases two to four. An award ceremony was held in March to recognise the efforts of the selected students and present scholarships to the top three.
