Aims
This course aims to introduce students to a logical, systematic approach to acquiring a conceptual foundation in the principles and current practices of management. It will also enable students to apply related concepts and theories to different case scenarios and contexts.

Contents
The course covers the following topics:

  • Management and the evolution of management thought
  • Defining the manager's terrain
  • Planning
  • Organizing and leading
  • Controlling

Learning support
There will be five two-hour tutorials and one two-hour surgery.

Assessment
There are two assignments and one examination. Students must use word processing software (such as Microsoft Word) to prepare the assignments, and submit the assignments via the Online Learning Environment (OLE).
