Diploma in Law Enforcement and Security Management (DLESM1) |
1. |
To be eligible for the award of the Diploma in Law Enforcement and Security Management (Pathway 1), a student shall: |
|
a) |
comply with the Regulations for Admission, Registration and Maintenance of Status; and |
|
b) |
comply with the Regulations for the Award of Sub-degree Qualifications (Sub-degrees); and |
|
c) |
obtain at least 60 credits* in courses prescribed by the regulations including at least 20 credits at Middle level. |
|

Of the 60 credits required for the attainment of the Diploma, students can complete up to 20 credits of courses in a language of instruction other than English. |
2. |
For the Diploma in Law Enforcement and Security Management (Pathway 1), the University has prescribed that a student must |
|
a) |
successfully complete 20 credits from compulsory courses labelled CD in Table 1 (i.e. LESM A202 and LESM A204); and |
|
b) |
successfully complete 30 credits from courses labelled FD, FDC and/or PFD* in Table 1 but no more than 10 credits from FDC; and |
|
c) |
successfully complete additional courses labelled MD from Table 1 to obtain the total of 60 credits required for the award. |
|
* |
Junior Police Officers, Customs Officers or above, Assistant Trade Controls Officers or above, and Assistant Officers II or above of the Correctional Services Department who intend to pursue the B.Soc.Sc. (Hons) should gain 30 credits from courses labelled FD and/or FDC. |

Higher Diploma in Law Enforcement and Security Management (HDLESM1) |
1. |
To be eligible for the award of the Higher Diploma in Law Enforcement and Security Management (Pathway 1), a student shall: |
|
a) |
comply with the Regulations for Admission, Registration and Maintenance of Status; and |
|
b) |
comply with the Regulations for the Award of Sub-degree Qualifications (Sub-degrees); and |
|
c) |
obtain at least 90 credits* in courses prescribed by the regulations including at least 10 credits at Higher level. |
|

Of the 90 credits required for the attainment of the Higher Diploma, students can complete up to 30 credits of courses in a language of instruction other than English. |
2. |
For the Higher Diploma in Law Enforcement and Security Management (Pathway 1), the University has prescribed that a student must |
|
a) |
successfully complete 40 credits from compulsory courses labelled CHD in Table 1 (i.e. LESM A201, LESM A202*, LESM A203 and LESM A204*); and |
|
b) |
successfully complete 30 credits from courses labelled FHD, FHDC and/or PFHD* in Table 1 but no more than 20 credits from FHDC; and |
|
c) |
successfully complete 10 credits from courses labelled MHD* in Table 1; and |
|
d) |
successfully complete 10 credits from courses labelled HHD in Table 1 to obtain the total of 90 credits required for the award. |

* |
credits gained in the Diploma can count towards the requirements of the Higher Diploma through articulation of qualifications. However, students wishing to pursue the 80-credit B.Soc.Sc (Hons.) in LESM programme through Pathway II must directly articulate from the Diploma in LESM to the B.Soc.Sc. (Hons.) in LESM and are not allowed to use the Diploma in LESM to articulate to the Higher Diploma in LESM. |
