Dear Colleagues,
The Launch Ceremony of the HKMU 35th Anniversary and Annual Staff Party was held on 12 January 2024. At about 11 am, over 900 colleagues started boarding eight double-decker buses at four campus locations, which took them to the Paramount International Banquet Hall in Kowloon Bay. The whole exercise was planned and executed with military precision.
During the Annual Staff Party, we kicked off the year-long HKMU 35th Anniversary celebrations, which will feature many exciting activities and events on and off campus. A 35-year history is not long for a university, but it recorded many challenges for, and changes at, HKMU. There have been many proud moments in the history of HKMU.
For me, the Annual Staff Party is an important and precious occasion for the Management Team to say thank you to each and every one of our faculty and staff for their patience, forbearance, hard work and support over the years.
Members of Council and Court also came and shared the fun with us. Student and staff performances provided the highlights of the day, surpassed only by the continuous lucky draws, which were significantly boosted by an on-the-spot donation from the Chairman of the HKMU Foundation Advisory Committee and an additional gift (an air ticket) from the Council Chairman.
The two-hour party represented many weeks of hard work by various offices, especially HRO (the main organiser). I am sure that their professional efforts are much appreciated by all of us.
The food and wine did not leave much of an impression on me, but the warm greetings, lively conversations, and joy and laughter did.
I look forward to joining the next party, which will have to wait until after a Management Retreat in March.
