    The OUHK won the land bid  
   

The Open University of Hong Kong has been successful in the application for a land grant at Ho Man Tin Chung Hau Street to operate self-financing full-time, locally accredited degree programmes. A new college will be established to offer 2,400 places in three subject areas – cultural and creative arts, testing and certification and medical services, contributing to the development of three of the six major industries promulgated by the Government. A new 12-storey green building is expected to be constructed in mid-2011 and completed in late 2013.
 

 
    Study Planning Day  
   

Information sessions on distance learning, part-time face-to-face and e-Learning programmes will be held. Visitors can meet OUHK teaching staff and browse through learning materials. There will also be advice services on course selection, credit exemption and financial assistance.

    Preparatory Workshop & Free Try-out Course (in Chinese)  
   

The half-day Preparatory Workshop is designed to prepare working adults to study for a degree by distance learning without disrupting their normal work schedule. Participants have a free try-out course to experience the uniqueness of the OUHK's distance learning education.

The OUHK campus takes on a new look  
    Improvements to university buildings were gradually completed. An illuminated sign of the OUHK logo was installed on the exterior wall of the Kwok Tak Seng Building (Block C), Tai Ning Hall and the Foyer leading to the Council Chamber on Level 12 of the Cheng Yu Tung Building (Block A) also took on a new look after renovation.

      Royal Chocolate Tasting Workshop  
     

The Alumni Affairs Office of the Public Affairs Unit will organize a 'Royal Chocolate Tasting Workshop' on the Chinese Valentine's Day to raise fund for the OUHK Alumni Scholarship and Bursary Fund. Alumni who have made an annual donation of HK$500 or more for three consecutive years will get two free tickets each.

Programme: An introduction about the history and culture of chocolate will be given at the workshop, followed by chocolate tasting of an assortment of Belgian chocolate.

      Video of Handbell Fundraising Concert  
     

The handbell fundraising concert, organized by the Alumni Affairs Office of the Public Affairs Unit, was held on 13 November in the presence of 250 alumni and raised over $120,000 for the Alumni Scholarship and Bursary Fund. The sum will be matched 100% by Mr Vincent Woo Matching Donation Fund on a dollar-for-dollar basis. A 4-minute video of the highlights of the concert is now available online.

      The OUHK campus was filled with joy and laughter on 5 December as more than 1,000 fresh graduates gathered and took group photos. President Prof. John C Y Leong, teachers, students and staff members joined the graduates to share their happiness.
