Open and distance learning (ODL) was successfully introduced to Hong Kong and started making significant contributions to local higher education some 28 years ago. Openness and innovation are major trends in contemporary education, influencing the whole spectrum of education institutions across the globe. Technological advancements and breakthroughs are bringing about a paradigm shift in contemporary education. Modes of learning and teaching are becoming more open and innovative in terms of time, space, curriculum contents, organization, pedagogy, infrastructure and requirements. This conference will explore key issues of relevant advancements.

This free courseware, Early Developments in Management Thinking, introduces the major schools of management thought and their evolution in the first half of this century. Each approach has contributed to the development of management thinking, but no single approach has gained dominance over the rest. We hope that the ideas and theories in this module will give you some food for thought, and that you will be able to apply them in your workplace.

This programme aims to provide high quality education in theoretical and practical knowledge and skills in various aspects of hospitality and attractions management for those who wish to pursue their careers at managerial level in the hospitality industry. Students will be offered internship as well as local and overseas exchange opportunities to gain familiarity with practical work settings.

This is a one-year full-time programme specially designed for postgraduate students to deepen their understanding of applied English linguistics as well as theories and practices of English language learning and teaching. Graduates of the programme will have gained a strong academic foundation in practical English language teaching skills and expertise in teaching English in a variety of contexts.

Alumnus Dennis Cheung, winner of the Young Leader Award and Outstanding Social Workers Award, was invited to share his extraordinary story with alumni and students.
