Students glean outstanding prospective teachers awards

Nine students from the School of Education and Languages won accolades at the 11th Hong Kong Outstanding Prospective Teachers Award co-organised by the Hong Kong New Generation Cultural Association and the Hong Kong Prospective Teachers Association. Kan Yu-hin, Wong Wing-ki, Alexandra Rose Dalipog Cannons and Lorenzo Alfonso Dela Cruz Alde attained the Silver Award, while Yam Tsz-yan and So Yuk-yu received the Bronze Award. Fung Wing-lam, Yip Ho and Chan Yui-pui were also presented with the Merit Award.

Triumph in intercollegiate singing competition

Zoe Wong Siu-chun from the HKMU Music Society represented the University to compete against students from 14 other institutional teams in the ICMA Intercollegiate Singing Competition 2024. She entered the final round and snatched the championship with superb renditions of two English songs.

Students’ innovation and entrepreneurship projects win approval

At the 10th Hong Kong University Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, HKMU students were awarded prizes as part of three teams in different categories. Awardees of the inaugural HKMU Hackathon Liu Tsam-yi and Zhang Yongchao teamed up with colleagues from other universities to enter the “OxySkin Photosynthetic Polymer Artificial Skin” project in the startup category and received a Third Prize. The two other HKMU teams were awarded Merit Prizes with their Internet technology project “CantoLink” and entrepreneurship proposal “Combing Digital Twin and Mixed Reality on Improving Building Inspection Training Quality and Process” respectively.

Innovative building inspection project snatches four awards

Supervised by Assistant Professor Ir Dr Jimmy Li, a student team from the School of Science and Technology won several awards with their innovative project, “Digital Twin (Mixed Reality) Adoption for Improving Training and Inspection Processes in New Buildings”. Their accomplishments include the Platinum Award in the IFMA Inter-Institutional Competition on Best Facility Management Project Presentation 2024, a Merit Prize for the Entrepreneurship Proposal category at the 10th Hong Kong University Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, and a Special Prize at the 7th China Vocational Education Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition. They also won the Best Innovative Award and second runner-up of the Undergraduate Section at the IET Hong Kong — Young Professionals Exhibition & Competition 2024.
