Accolades for young writers

Young writers at HKMU received their most deserved accolades for their creative works. MA student in Chinese Literature Zhang Yuan was awarded the Merit Prize in the tertiary group for the Top 10 Student Poets Award jointly organized by Poetry Periodical, Chinese poetry network and Sharing Mobile Group Co., Ltd. Deng Xiao-chuan from the MA in Creative Writing programme received an honourable mention in a Chinese poetry writing competition with several poetry entries, while Creative Writing and Film Arts programme graduate Chen Xinxin had her final year project published in Hong Kong Literary and hit headline of the magazine's creative writing special.

Promoting racial inclusion through photography

Cinematic Design and Photographic Digital Art programme graduate Rai Jenny Samekham teamed up with a friend, who is also Nepalese, to participate in the 2021 Unison Community Project Competition. As one of the ten shortlisted teams, the duo partnered with Kwai Tsing District Councillors to promote social inclusion through implementing their winning project in the district.

Accounting student crowned
outstanding college student

Professional Accounting student Lau Yin-yi distinguished herself as one of the ten awardees in the 2021 Outstanding College Students Election organized by the Junior Chamber International City Hong Kong.

Alumni excel in ACCA examinations

Two graduates from the School of B&A achieved outstanding results in the ACCA Professional Level examinations. Alumna Sun Jingmin was awarded a bronze medal in the December 2020 examination, while alumni Chan Cheong-ho was among the top students with the highest aggregated marks in the March 2021 examination and won the Top Affiliate award.

HSBC Greater Bay Area Scholarship for business students

Two business students Chan Yu-mei and Kalathiya Simran Sanjaybhai were presented with the first HSBC Greater Bay Area (Hong Kong) Scholarship. Apart from the scholarship of HK$80,000, they also earned for themselves mentorship opportunities with HSBC executives and guidance from financial leaders in the Greater Bay Area.

Accomplishment in taxation competition

Choi Lok-chuen, Lam Chak-man, Mok Rong-yin and Wen Ya-ting from the Professional Accounting programme teamed up to compete in the Greater Bay Area Taxation Competition organized by the Taxation Institute of Hong Kong. Finishing in second place, the students were offered summer internships at leading accounting firms including BDO, Deloitte, KPMG and ShineWing, as well as a cash prize of HK$6,000.

Grand award in community internship programme

Two Year 3 students from the School of B&A participated in the Citi-HKCSS Community Intern Program 2021 and gained work experience at local non-profit organizations. With outstanding performance, Ryan Chui Sing-hang studying Hotel and Sustainable Tourism Management was presented with the Grand Award for Excellence while Tammy Tam Wing-lam received the Award for Excellence
