Aims

This course aims to:

  1. develop students' competency in dealing with complex issues relating to end-of-life care;
  2. enable students to critically examine evidence-based practice in meeting the end-of-life care needs of clients and their families;
  3. allow students to provide high-quality end-of-life care to clients with serious illnesses in a variety of clinical settings;
  4. allow students to apply analytical and critical thinking skills in promoting and advancing end-of-life care; and
  5. equip students with the skills to critically self-reflect in practising and advancing end-of-life care.

Contents

  • Course introduction and pre-clinical workshops for clinical placement
  • Two-week clinical practice in a setting in The Jockey Club Home for Hospice (JCHH) or other relevant clinical settings
  • Student presentations

Assessment

Continuous assessment includes an individual reflective portfolio, student logbook record and presentation seminar
