Aims

This course aims to:

develop students' competency in dealing with complex issues relating to end-of-life care;
enable students to critically examine evidence-based practice in meeting the end-of-life care needs of clients and their families;
allow students to provide high-quality end-of-life care to clients with serious illnesses in a variety of clinical settings;
allow students to apply analytical and critical thinking skills in promoting and advancing end-of-life care; and
equip students with the skills to critically self-reflect in practising and advancing end-of-life care.

Contents

Course introduction and pre-clinical workshops for clinical placement
Two-week clinical practice in a setting in The Jockey Club Home for Hospice (JCHH) or other relevant clinical settings

Assessment

Continuous assessment includes an individual reflective portfolio, student logbook record and presentation seminar

Electronic submission of assignments: Allowed
