Aims
The course aims to provide students with knowledge of management accounting concepts and practices from the strategic perspective. It focuses on the role of cost management in helping companies to sustain their business in a competitive environment through strategy implementation.

Contents
The course covers the following topics:

  • An overview of strategic management accounting concepts
  • Information for decision-making
  • Planning, budgeting and forecasting
  • Project management
  • Performance management
  • Tools for creating and managing value

Contact hours
Normally three hours per week.

Assessment
The continuous assessment portion of the course accounts for 100% of the total course score. CPA Australia's Strategic Management Accounting subject examination is counted towards 30% of the continuous assessment. Students are required to submit assignments via the Online Learning Environment (OLE).

Equipment
Students will need access to a personal computer with an Internet connection.
