Aims

The course aims to develop students' business communication skills, which will enable them to communicate effectively in business and management contexts. Students will develop a skill set in conducting and participating in effective workplace meetings, fostering efficient teamwork and communication, negotiation, and writing effective workplace proposals.

Contents

The course covers the following topics:

  • Analysing
  • Influencing
  • Collaborating

Learning support

There will be six two-hour online lectures, ten one-hour online surgeries, two two-hour online surgeries for assignments and two six-hour compulsory face-to-face day schools.

The dates for the compulsory face-to-face day school(s) are as follows:

Assessment

There are lecture polls, two assignments, two application-based assessments and an oral presentation (compulsory). Assignments should be prepared with Microsoft Word and submitted to Turnitin for plagiarism checking via the Online Learning Environment (OLE).

Equipment

Students will need access to a personal computer with an Internet connection.
