Aims

The course aims to equip learners with the key knowledge and concepts in studying heritage preservation in Hong Kong. After taking this course, students shall be able to gain an integrated understanding of the current situation and challenges for preserving tangible cultural heritage in Hong Kong.

  2. Challenges for preserving privately owned historic buildings
  3. Town planning, urban renewal and heritage preservation
  4. Heritage and tourism: A historical review
  5. Industrial heritage in Hong Kong: Comparative studies
  6. Revitalising historic buildings through partnership schemes

Learning support

Face-to-face lectures will be conducted in this course.

Assessment

Two assignments (group project and individual assignment, 60%) and one examination (40%) will be included in this course.

Online requirement

Students are required to submit assignments via the Online Learning Environment (OLE).
