Aims
This is a 15-credit postgraduate course of the Master of Arts in Creative Industries and Cultural Assets programme. The course aims to enhance students' knowledge, analytical skills and critical thinking through an individual graduate project. Each student is required to work with a supervisor to conduct an individual research project. Students will be encouraged to develop a project that integrates more than one particular sector or discipline of creative industries and cultural assets.

Contents
The course covers the following topics:

  • Selecting a field and a topic
  • Literature review
  • Research project design
  • Project implementation and analysis
  • Project documentation and reporting

Learning Support
Learning is supported by consultation sessions arranged between the student and his/her supervisor. Discussion, research activities and student presentations are the main teaching and learning components of this course. Each student will communicate with the supervisor regularly to discuss ideas, report progress and obtain feedback to develop the graduate project until its completion. The student will also conduct an oral presentation of the project and receive feedback from others.

Assessment
Assessment is based on students' performance in continuous assessment components including (1) class presentation and discussion, (2) a progress report, and (3) the final project and oral presentation. These components are worth 20%, 20% and 60% of the total marks for the course respectively. Students are required to submit assignments via the Online Learning Environment (OLE).
