Aims

This course aims to consolidate students' English reading and writing proficiency. It helps students to develop better reading and writing skills for academic and work purposes.

Contents

Part 1   Explaining, describing and defining

Part 2   Comparing, contrasting and sequencing

Part 3   Causal reasoning

Part 4   Persuading

Part 5   Negotiating

Learning support

There will be seven two-hour tutorials. Support and interaction opportunities are provided via the Online Learning Environment.

Assessment

ENGL 2200EED includes both continuous assessment (40%) and a final examination (60%). There are three assignments (of equal weighting) in the continuous assessment. Students are required to pass both the continuous assessment and the final examination in order to pass the course.

Electronic submission of assignments

Except for some designated assignments, students are required to submit assignments via the Online Learning Environment (OLE).
