Aims
This course aims to introduce learners to the modern theories and concepts underlying the practice of financial decision-making. It equips learners with the analytical skills to solve financial problems involving long-term financing, corporate restructuring and risk management.

Contents
The course covers the following topics:

  • Sources of long-term financing
  • Impact of leverage and the firm’s financial mix
  • Derivatives and risk management
  • Mergers, divestitures, and corporate restructuring
  • Special areas of financial management

Learning support
There will be four three-hour tutorials.

Assessment
There are two assignments and one examination. Students must use word processing software (such as Microsoft Word) to prepare the assignments, and submit the assignments via the Online Learning Environment (OLE).
