Aims
The aim of this course is to develop students' knowledge of the English lexis from three broad perspectives: description, acquisition and pedagogy. Topics covered include what vocabulary is and how it behaves, how the mind learns and uses new vocabulary, and pedagogical issues of teaching second language vocabulary. The course also aims to provide students with tools for further investigation.

  • Researching vocabulary

Contact hours
Normally two hours per week.

Assessment
The continuous assessment portion of the course accounts for 60% of the total course score, while the final examination accounts for the remaining 40% of the total course score. Students are required to submit assignments via the Online Learning Environment (OLE).
