Aims
This course aims to introduce learners to the key concepts of business law and company law in which Hong Kong companies operate. It provides learners with the essential knowledge and analytical skills to comply with the legal requirements for doing business in Hong Kong.

Contents
The course covers the following topics:

  • Establishing legally binding relations
  • Selecting a business structure and the legal framework of the corporate entity
  • Capitalisation, financing and capital reconstruction
  • Corporate governance
  • Raising loans, winding up and liquidation

Learning support
There will be four two-hour tutorials and one six-hour day school

The six-hour day school will be held on 24 March 2024 (Sunday).

Assessment
There are two assignments and one examination. Students must use word processing software (such as Microsoft Word) to prepare the assignments, and submit the assignments via the Online Learning Environment (OLE).

Equipment
Students will need access to a personal computer with an Internet connection.
