Aims
The course aims to assist students in gaining a solid understanding of the approaches to managing organizations, and developing the ability to suggest and carry out effective managerial actions in today's organizational settings.

Contents
The course covers the following topics:

  • Basic and key trends in organizational design
  • Fundamentals of organizational structure
  • Organizational design and its strategic purpose
  • Organizational design and technology
  • Size, life cycle, and decline of organizations
  • Managing employee performance
  • Power and conflict in the workplace
  • Group dynamics and decision-making
  • Leading employees to success
  • Managing organizational culture and change

Learning support
There will be eleven two-hour tutorials.

Assessment
There are three written assignments and one examination. Students must use word processing software (such as Microsoft Word) to prepare the assignments and submit the assignments via the Online Learning Environment (OLE).
