Only students in the Bachelor of Nursing (Pathway 1) or the Bachelor of Nursing (Pathway 2) programme may enrol in NURS 3405NED.

Aims

This course aims to strengthen students' knowledge and skills in all aspects of health assessment and enhance students' understanding of the philosophy, theories, concepts, models, development and implementation of primary health care and nursing practice in the primary health care context.

  • Developmental, spiritual and nutritional assessment
  • Psychosocial and cultural assessment
  • Physical assessment
  • Health assessment across the lifespan and complete health assessment
  • Fundamental concepts and philosophies of primary health care
  • Primary health care in community setting
  • Global impact and effective governance on primary health care
  • Nurses' roles and the development of primary health care in Hong Kong

Learning support

There will be 16 hours and four hours of online interactive tutorials and face-to-face tutorials respectively.

Assessment

There will be three written assignments (two for continuous assessment and one for final assignment). Students are required to submit assignments via the Online Learning Environment (OLE).
