Aims

The overall aims of this course are to develop students' knowledge of various branches of mathematics necessary for studying social sciences, and also to describe the mathematical patterns prevalent in the social sciences as well as their mathematical analysis.

  • Exponential and logarithmic equations
  • Systems of equations
  • Calculus of one variable
  • Calculus of several variables
  • Optimisation

Learning support

There will be 12 contact hours of tutorials for this course.

Assessment

There will be two compulsory assignments and one final examination. The assignments will carry 50% of the final mark and the final examination will account for the other 50%.

Online requirement

Students are required to submit assignments via the Online Learning Environment (OLE).
