Aims

The course aims to raise students' awareness of environmental challenges and societal needs. It enhances students' understanding of business models and their roles in achieving sustainability, and instils the entrepreneurial mindset and leadership qualities in students so that they dare to question the status quo and drive positive change in organisations and society. The course also aims to equip students with design thinking and systems thinking methodologies, and the range of knowledge and skills they need to be entrepreneurs.

Contents

The course covers the following topics:

  • Sustainable solutions to systematic challenges: Successes and failures
  • Social innovations and shared values
  • Design thinking and systems thinking
  • The entrepreneurial mindset
  • Contemporary leadership approaches for sustainability

Learning support

There will be an one-hour online course induction, 60 pre-recorded mini-lecture videos and two three-hour compulsory face-to-face day schools.

Assessment

There are online tasks/activities, two application-based assessments and one assignment. Assignments should be prepared with Microsoft Word, and submitted to Turnitin for plagiarism checking via the Online Learning Environment (OLE).

Students will need access to a personal computer with an Internet connection.
