Regulations for the Associate of Arts in Chinese Language and Literature

These regulations are made under paragraphs 1 to 4 of the Regulations for the Award of Sub-degree Qualifications (Sub-degrees).

In these regulations definitions shall apply as in the Regulations for the Award of Sub-degree Qualifications and in the Interpretation Section of the Academic Rules and Regulations.

Associate of Arts in Chinese Language and Literature (AACLL)
1. To be eligible for the award of the Associate of Arts in Chinese Language and Literature, a student shall:
  a) comply with the Regulations for Admission, Registration and Maintenance of Status; and
  b) comply with the Regulations for the Award of Sub-degree Qualifications (Sub-degrees); and
  c) obtain at least 80 credits in courses prescribed by the regulations.
2. For the Associate of Arts in Chinese Language and Literature, the University has prescribed that a student must:
  a) successfully complete at least 5 credits from courses labelled DFC in Table 1; and
* b) successfully complete 35 credits from compulsory courses labelled DC in Table 1, i.e. PTH E150C/CHIN A172C, PTH A200C, CHIN A240C and CHIN A202C; and
  c) successfully complete 10 credits from a compulsory Higher level course labelled DH in Table 1, i.e. CHIN A360C; and
** d) successfully complete 10 credits from courses labelled DO in Table 1, i.e. CHIN A162C and CHIN A163C; and
  e) successfully complete 20 credits from any courses in Table 1, or any Foundation, Middle or Higher level courses offered by the University, provided that, of the total 80 credits, at least 40 are obtained at Middle or Higher level.
  * Students enrolled with the University before October 2004 who have completed 35 credits from CHIN E050C/EDU L060C/BUS B190C/CHIN A171C, PTH E150C, CHIN A172C, PTH A200C and CHIN A240C will also be deemed to have satisfied requirement (b).
  ** Students enrolled with the University before April 2005 who have completed 10 credits from CHIN A171C, BUS B190C, CHIN E050C, CHIN L124C, CHIN E130C, TRAN A251C, CHIN A272C, CHIN A273C, CHIN A274C and CHIN A371C will also be deemed to have satisfied requirement (d).

Notes:

  1. Courses form excluded combinations with other courses. Only one of the courses of the excluded combinations can count towards an OUHK award. Students should refer to the list of excluded combinations for details.
     
  2. Courses no longer available.
     
  3. CHST A202C has been replaced by CHIN A202C. Students who have successfully completed CHST A202C will be deemed to have satisfied the requirements of CHIN A202C.
