Regulations for the degree of Bachelor of Sports Management


1. General
1.1 These regulations are made under paragraphs 1 to 4 of the Regulations for the Award of Undergraduate Degrees.
1.2 In these regulations definitions shall apply as in the Regulations for the Award of Undergraduate Degrees and in the Interpretation Section of the Academic Rules and Regulations.
   
2. Entry Requirements
2.1 To enter the Bachelor of Sports Management programme through pathway 1, a student shall normally possess a recognized Associate Degree or Higher Diploma in a business-related area (or its equivalent).
2.2 To enter the Bachelor of Sports Management programme through pathway 2, a student shall normally possess a recognized Associate Degree or Higher Diploma in a sports-related area (or its equivalent).
   
3. Bachelor of Sports Management (BSM)
3.1 To be eligible for the award of the degree of Bachelor of Sports Management, a student shall:
  3.1.1 comply with the Regulations for Admission, Registration and Maintenance of Status; and
  3.1.2 comply with the Regulations for the Award of Undergraduate Degrees; and
  3.1.3 obtain at least 120 credits of which no more than 40 credits shall be obtained at Foundation level; and
  3.1.4 obtain at least 100 credits in courses prescribed by the regulations as appropriate to the degree for which notice has been given, including at least 20 credits in courses at Higher level.

3.2

For the degree of Bachelor of Sports Management, the University has prescribed that a student must:
 

3.2.1

successfully complete 100 credits from core courses (labelled CD in Table 1); and
 

3.2.2

successfully complete 20 credits from from any Foundation, Middle or Higher level courses offered by the University (other than GEN S100F), provided that, of the total 120 credits, no more than 40 are gained at Foundation level.
   
4. Bachelor of Sports Management (through Pathway 1) (BSM1)
4.1 To be eligible for the award of the degree of Bachelor of Sports Management, a student who entered the programme through pathway 1 shall:
  4.1.1 comply with the Regulations for Admission, Registration and Maintenance of Status; and
  4.1.2 comply with the Regulations for the Award of Undergraduate Degrees; and
  4.1.3 obtain at least 40 credits in courses prescribed by the regulations.
4.2 For the degree of Bachelor of Sports Management, the University has prescribed that a student who entered the programme through pathway 1 must:
 

4.2.1

successfully complete 20 credits from SPM B213 or SPM B217; and
 

4.2.2

successfully complete 20 credits from SPM B335.
5. Bachelor of Sports Management (through Pathway 2) (BSM2)
5.1 To be eligible for the award of the degree of Bachelor of Sports Management, a student who entered the programme through pathway 2 shall:
  5.1.1 comply with the Regulations for Admission, Registration and Maintenance of Status; and
  5.1.2 comply with the Regulations for the Award of Undergraduate Degrees; and
  5.1.3 obtain at least 40 credits in courses prescribed by the regulations.
5.2 For the degree of Bachelor of Sports Management, the University has prescribed that a student who entered the programme through pathway 2 must:
 

5.2.1

successfully complete 20 credits from COMR B204; and
 

5.2.2

successfully complete 20 credits from SPM B335.

Notes :

  1. Courses form excluded combinations with other courses. Only one of the courses of the excluded combinations can count towards an OUHK award. Students should refer to the list of excluded combinations for details.
     
  2. If students have successfully completed BUS B100, they are deemed to have satisfied the requirements for BUS B103.
     
  3. The course code of COMR B112 has been revised as COMR B204.  If students have successfully completed COMR B112, they are deemed to have satisfied the requirements for COMR B204.
     
  4. If students have successfully completed COMR B113F and COMR B202F, they are deemed to have satisfied the requirements for COMR B112/COMR B204.
     
  5. If students have successfully completed SPM B214F and SPM B215F, they are deemed to have satisfied the requirements for SPM B213.
     
  6. If students have successfully completed COMR B219F and SPM B218F, they are deemed to have satisfied the requirements for SPM B217.
     
  7. If students have successfully completed SPM B336F and SPM B337F, they are deemed to have satisfied the requirements for SPM B335.
     
  8. Courses presented in full time face-to-face mode are identical to courses with the same course code but without the suffix “F”. Students who have successfully completed courses presented in full time face-to-face mode are not allowed to take the same courses in the distance learning mode, and vice versa.
