Regulations for the Postgraduate Certificate in Business Administration (in Chinese) and Master of Business Administration (in Chinese) (for students admitted in 2018 Autumn term and thereafter)

 

1. General
1.1 These regulations are made under paragraphs 1 to 4 of the Regulations for the Award of Postgraduate Degrees and paragraphs 1 to 4 of the Regulations for the Award of Postgraduate Diplomas and Certificates.
1.2 In these regulations, definitions shall apply as in the Regulations for the Award of Postgraduate Degrees and the Regulations for the Award of Postgraduate Diplomas and Certificates and in the Interpretation Section of the Academic Rules and Regulations.
   
2. Entry Requirements
2.1 To enter the Postgraduate Certificate in Business Administration (in Chinese) programme, a student shall normally possess:
  2.1.1 a recognized degree in a non-business area (or its equivalent), plus at least two years of supervisory/managerial experience.
  or    
  2.1.2 a recognized tertiary academic qualification (such as a diploma), plus at least six years of supervisory/managerial experience.
2.2 To enter the Master of Business Administration (in Chinese) programme, a student shall normally possess:
  2.2.1 a recognized degree in a business-related area (or its equivalent), or a qualification equivalent to the OUHK’s PCBAC; or
       
  2.2.2 a recognized degree in a non-business area (or its equivalent), plus at least three years of recognized supervisory/managerial experience; or
  2.2.3 a recognized post-secondary qualification at Qualifications Framework Level 4 (or its equivalent), plus at least ten years of supervisory/managerial experience.
2.3 To enter the Master of Business Administration (in Chinese) programme through pathway 1 , a student shall normally possess:
  2.3.1 a recognized Master’s degree in a business-related area (or its equivalent).
3. Postgraduate Certificate in Business Administration (in Chinese) (PCBAC)
3.1 To be eligible for the award of the Postgraduate Certificate in Business Administration (in Chinese), a student shall:
  3.1.1 comply with the Regulations for Admission, Registration and Maintenance of Status; and
  3.1.2 comply with the Regulations for the Award of Postgraduate Diplomas and Certificates; and
  3.1.3 obtain 20 credits from BUS B811C and BUS B812C (labelled CC in Table 1), prescribed by the regulations as appropriate to the postgraduate certificate for which notice has been given.

Master of Business Administration (in Chinese) (MBAC) 5
4.1 To be eligible for the award of the degree of Master of Business Administration (in Chinese), a student shall:
  4.1.1 comply with the Regulations for Admission, Registration and Maintenance of Status; and
  4.1.2 comply with the Regulations for the Award of Postgraduate Degrees; and
  4.1.3 obtain the following 60 credits prescribed by the regulations as appropriate to the degree for which notice has been given:
    4.1.3.1 successfully complete 30 credits from BUS B859C and MGT B831C (labelled CM in Table 1); and
    4.1.3.2 obtain a further 30 credits from optional courses (labelled OM in Table 1).
5. Master of Business Administration (in Chinese) (through pathway 1) (MBAC1) 5
5.1 To be eligible for the award of the degree of Master of Business Administration (in Chinese), a student who entered the programme through pathway 1 shall:
  5.1.1 comply with the Regulations for Admission, Registration and Maintenance of Status; and
  5.1.2 comply with the Regulations for the Award of Postgraduate Degrees; and
  5.1.3 obtain the following 40 credits prescribed by the regulations as appropriate to the degree for which notice has been given:
    5.1.3.1 successfully complete 30 credits from BUS B859C and MGT B831C (labelled CM in Table 1); and
    5.1.3.2 obtain a further 10 credits from optional courses (labelled OM in Table 1).

Notes:

  1. If students have successfully completed LAW B803C, they are deemed to have satisfied the requirements for LAW B845CW. However, LAW B803C may only be counted as 5 credits against the MBAC programme requirements.
     
  2. If students have successfully completed LAW B816C, they are deemed to have satisfied the requirements for LAW B854CW. However, LAW B816C may only be counted as 5 credits against the MBAC programme requirements.
     
  3. Courses no longer available.
     
  4. The course code of MKT B893C has been revised as IB B893C.  If students have successfully completed MKT B893C, they are deemed to have satisfied the requirements for IB B893C.
     
  5. Students admitted to the MBAC programme in or before April 2012 were originally under Pathway 1 or Pathway 2 or Pathway 3 (i.e. MBACPATH1 or MBACPATH2 or MBACPATH3).  Under the current programme structure, students are regrouped into MBAC or MBAC1 as follows:
