Regulations for the Postgraduate Certificate in Autism Spectrum Disorder, Postgraduate Diploma in Autism Spectrum Disorder, Master of Social Sciences in Autism Spectrum Disorder
1. General
1.1
These regulations are made under paragraphs 1 to 4 of the Regulations for the Award of Postgraduate Degrees and paragraphs 1 to 4 of the Regulations for the Award of Postgraduate Diplomas and Certificates.
1.2
In these regulations, definitions shall apply as in the Regulations for the Award of Postgraduate Degrees and Regulations for the Award of Postgraduate Diplomas and Certificates and in the Interpretation Section of the Academic Rules and Regulations.
1.3 The Regulations Governing the Articulation of Qualifications shall apply for conversion of Postgraduate Certificate in Autism Spectrum Disorder to the award of Postgraduate Diploma in Autism Spectrum Disorder and the conversion of the above Postgraduate Certificate and Postgraduate Diploma to the award of Master of Social Sciences in Autism Spectrum Disorder.
1.4 A student shall complete the Postgraduate Certificate in Autism Spectrum Disorder or Postgraduate Diploma in Autism Spectrum Disorder or Master of Social Sciences in Autism Spectrum Disorder within one year for full-time study or two years for part-time study. Under special circumstances, students may apply to the Dean of the School of Arts and Social Sciences for extension of the maximum period of study, i.e. extension up to one year for full-time study or two years for part-time study.
2.
Entry Requirements
2.1
To enter the Postgraduate Certificate in Autism Spectrum Disorder or Postgraduate Diploma in Autism Spectrum Disorder, a student shall have:
 
2.1.1
obtained a bachelor’s degree in any discipline, or the equivalent, from a recognized tertiary institution; and
 
2.1.2
a good command of English language.
2.2
To enter the Master of Social Sciences in Autism Spectrum Disorder, a student shall have:
 
2.2.1
obtained a bachelor’s degree in psychology, education, counselling or other relevant disciplines, or the equivalent, from a recognized tertiary institution; and
 
2.2.2
a good command of English language.
3.
Postgraduate Certificate in Autism Spectrum Disorder (PCASDF) (See Note 1)
3.1
To be eligible for the award of the Postgraduate Certificate in Autism Spectrum Disorder, a student shall:
 
3.1.1
comply with the Regulations for Admission, Registration and Maintenance of Status; and
 
3.1.2
comply with the Regulations for the Award of Postgraduate Diplomas and Certificates; and
 
3.1.3
obtain at least 20 credits in courses at Postgraduate level prescribed by the regulations.
3.2

For the Postgraduate Certificate in Autism Spectrum Disorder, the University has prescribed that a student must:

 
3.2.1
successfully complete 5 credits from PSYC A821F labelled PC in Table 1; and
 
3.2.2
successfully complete 15 credits from courses labelled PE in Table 1.
4.
Postgraduate Diploma in Autism Spectrum Disorder (PDASDF) (See Note 1)
4.1
To be eligible for the award of the Postgraduate Diploma in Autism Spectrum Disorder, a student shall:
 
4.1.1
comply with the Regulations for Admission, Registration and Maintenance of Status; and
 
4.1.2
comply with the Regulations for the Award of Postgraduate Diplomas and Certificates; and
 
4.1.3
obtain at least 40 credits in courses at Postgraduate level prescribed by the regulations.
4.2
For the Postgraduate Diploma in Autism Spectrum Disorder, the University has prescribed that a student must:
 
4.2.1
successfully complete 5 credits from PSYC A821F labelled PC in Table 1; and
 
4.2.2
successfully complete 35 credits from courses labelled PE in Table 1.
5.
Master of Social Sciences in Autism Spectrum Disorder (MSSCASDF) (See Note 1)
5.1
To be eligible for the award of the Master of Social Sciences in Autism Spectrum Disorder, a student shall:
 
5.1.1
comply with the Regulations for Admission, Registration and Maintenance of Status; and
 
5.1.2
comply with the Regulations for the Award of Postgraduate Degrees; and
 
5.1.3
obtain at least 60 credits in courses at Postgraduate level prescribed by the regulations.
5.2
For the Master of Social Sciences in Autism Spectrum Disorder , the University has prescribed that a student must:
 
5.2.1
successfully complete 5 credits from PSYC A821F labelled PC in Table 1; and
 
5.2.2
successfully complete 35 credits from courses labelled PE in Table 1; and
  5.2.3 successfully complete 20 credits from PSYC A830F labelled MC in Table 1.

  1. The programme of Postgraduate Certificate in Autism Spectrum Disorder, Postgraduate Diploma in Autism Spectrum Disorder, and Master of Social Sciences in Autism Spectrum Disorder has been phased out in 2019 Autumn term and its last conferment will be December 2024.
