Regulations for the Postgraduate Certificate in Global and Public Governance, Postgraduate Diploma in Global and Public Governance, Master of Social Sciences in Global and Public Governance

 

1. General
1.1
These regulations are made under paragraphs 1 to 4 of the Regulations for the Award of Postgraduate Degrees and paragraphs 1 to 4 of the Regulations for the Award of Postgraduate Diplomas and Certificates.
1.2
In these regulations, definitions shall apply as in the Regulations for the Award of Postgraduate Degrees and Regulations for the Award of Postgraduate Diplomas and Certificates and in the Interpretation Section of the Academic Rules and Regulations.
1.3 The Regulations Governing the Articulation of Qualifications shall apply for conversion of Postgraduate Certificate in Global and Public Governance to the award of Postgraduate Diploma in Global and Public Governance and the conversion of the above Postgraduate Certificate and Postgraduate Diploma to the award of Master of Social Sciences in Global and Public Governance.
1.4 A student shall complete the Postgraduate Certificate in Global and Public Governance or Postgraduate Diploma in Global and Public Governance or Master of Social Sciences in Global and Public Governance within one year for full-time study or two years for part-time study. Under special circumstances, students may apply to the Dean of the School of Arts and Social Sciences for extension of the maximum period of study, i.e. extension up to one year for full-time study or two years for part-time study.
 
2.
Entry Requirements
2.1
To enter the Postgraduate Certificate in Global and Public Governance, Postgraduate Diploma in Global and Public Governance, and Master of Social Sciences in Global and Public Governance, a student shall have obtained a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized tertiary education institution, or the equivalent.
 
3.
Postgraduate Certificate in Global and Public Governance (PCGAPGF)
3.1
To be eligible for the award of the Postgraduate Certificate in Global and Public Governance, a student shall:
 
3.1.1
comply with the Regulations for Admission, Registration and Maintenance of Status; and
 
3.1.2
comply with the Regulations for the Award of Postgraduate Diplomas and Certificates; and
 
3.1.3
obtain at least 20 credits in courses at Postgraduate level prescribed by the regulations.
3.2

For the Postgraduate Certificate in Global and Public Governance, the University has prescribed that a student must:

 
3.2.1
successfully complete 20 credits from courses labelled CA in Table 1.
 
4.
Postgraduate Diploma in Global and Public Governance (PDGAPGF)
4.1
To be eligible for the award of the Postgraduate Diploma in Global and Public Governance, a student shall:
 
4.1.1
comply with the Regulations for Admission, Registration and Maintenance of Status; and
 
4.1.2
comply with the Regulations for the Award of Postgraduate Diplomas and Certificates; and
 
4.1.3
obtain at least 40 credits in courses at Postgraduate level prescribed by the regulations.
4.2
For the Postgraduate Diploma in Global and Public Governance, the University has prescribed that a student must:
 
4.2.1
successfully complete 20 credits from courses labelled CA in Table 1; and
 
4.2.2
successfully complete 10 credits from courses labelled OA in Table 1; and
 
4.2.3
successfully complete 5 credits from courses labelled OB in Table 1; and
 
4.2.4
successfully complete 5 credits from courses labelled OC in Table 1.
 
5.
Master of Social Sciences in Global and Public Governance (MSSCGAPGF)
5.1
To be eligible for the award of Master of Social Sciences in Global and Public Governance, a student shall:
 
5.1.1
comply with the Regulations for Admission, Registration and Maintenance of Status; and
 
5.1.2
comply with the Regulations for the Award of Postgraduate Degrees; and
 
5.1.3
obtain at least 60 credits in courses at Postgraduate level prescribed by the regulations.
5.2
For the Master of Social Sciences in Global and Public Governance (Research Project), the University has prescribed that a student must:
 
5.2.1
successfully complete 25 credits from courses labelled CA in Table 1; and
 
5.2.2
successfully complete 10 credits from courses labelled OA in Table 1; and
 
5.2.3
successfully complete 5 credits from courses labelled OB in Table 1; and
 
5.2.4
successfully complete 20 credits from GAPG A888F Research Project labelled RP in Table 1.
5.3
For the Master of Social Sciences in Global and Public Governance (Course Works), the University has prescribed that a student must:
 
5.3.1
successfully complete 25 credits from courses labelled CA in Table 1; and
 
5.3.2
successfully complete 10 credits from courses labelled OA in Table 1; and
 
5.3.3
successfully complete 10 credits from courses labelled OB in Table 1; and
 
5.3.4
successfully complete 15 credits from courses labelled OC in Table 1.
