Rhythmic gymnast dances her way to a vibrant life

Sports and Recreation Management programme graduate Alice Cheng Lai-chun is a Hong Kong rhythmic gymnastics representative, an elite athlete of the Hong Kong Sports Institute, as well as a national-level athlete. When Alice was young, she admired very much the graceful figures of rhythmic gymnasts. From novice player to repeated all-round champion, while combining studies and sport training, Alice has perfectly interpreted every rhythmic movement.

The third talk of the public lecture series 'Talk of the Metropolis' was held on 22 Nov 2021 with Mr Richard Lancaster, Chief Executive Officer of CLP Holdings, as the speaker. Mr Lancaster had shared his insights on the hot topic of energy transition and climate change. The talk titled 'Race to zero: A 30-year challenge for a century-old industry' attracted over 100 participants to attend in person or via webinar.

The virtual run event 'Run with Me & U!' has been held successfully between 12 Nov and 6 Dec 2021 and participated by over 400 alumni and students together with their family and friends. Check out the list of winners for the three categories and the running moments captured by the participants!

School of A&SS showcased the outcomes of its QESS project, 'Learning Effectiveness Enhancement through VR and Co-Curricular Activities Engagement', on campus in Oct 2021. You may now visit the exhibition through the virtual tour.

The annual Award Presentation Ceremony was organized by the Human Resources Office on 17 Dec 2021 to recognize staff contributions and achievements.

Rediscover Your Alma Mater

While taking photos with friends and family on campus during the period of graduation celebrations, you may be aware that there are two statues of the great figures erected on the podium garden of the Main Campus. The statue of Confucius was unveiled and donated by the Fong's Family Foundation in 1996, while the statue of Sun Yat Sen was unveiled and contributed by Dr Lily Sun Sui-fong, President of Dr Sun Yat-sen Foundation for Peace and Education in 2011. The vision of the two great figures – 'Education For All (有教無類)' and 'The World Belongs to All (天下為公)' has had great influences to the University and students throughout the ages.
