The Government has appointed Ir Dr Conrad Wong Tin-cheung as Chairman of the Council, Mr Henry Tong Sau-chai as Deputy Chairman and Mr Arnold Cheng Ka-kui as Treasurer. All of the appointments are for a term of three years, effective from 20 June 2022.

After the retitling of the University, a working group comprising representatives of staff, students and alumni was set up to review the University motto. Following an extensive deliberation process, the Council approved the adoption of the new motto '勵學致遠敬慎日新' (Transcendence through Erudition and Renewal) at its meeting on 16 June.

Exploring new business opportunities in aviation logistics

Accounting graduate Ryan Ngan Siu-kwan entered the field of aviation logistics by chance, and was gradually promoted from intern to general manager in the company he served. In the last few years, he established his own business and set up two companies, one of which was jointly set up with two university classmates, boldly seizing new opportunities in the logistics industry with his shrewd business sense amid the incessant coronavirus pandemic.

SAO organized the HKMU Campus Run on 3 May to encourage students and staff to do more exercises during the pandemic and to build a healthy and happy HKMU community. The event was well received, with over 180 staff and student participants who ran along a route spanning the three HKMU Ho Man Tin campus buildings.

The School of Nursing and Health Studies recently signed collaboration agreements with the School of Graduate Studies of Lingnan University and the Society for the Promotion of Hospice Care respectively to co-organize two new programmes 'Master of Science in Smart Ageing and Gerontology' and 'Master of Science in Extensive End-of-Life Care' to address the healthcare needs of Hong Kong’s ageing society.

Rediscover Your Alma Mater

Alumni have always been supportive of University development. Apart from sharing knowledge and experience, they have been contributing to the Alumni Scholarship and Bursary Fund to provide fellow students with much-needed financial assistance and encouragement.

Launched in 2001, the Alumni Scholarship and Bursary Fund was well received with an initial injection of more than HK$66,000 from 150 graduates. The first donor of the Fund is a graduate of the accountancy programme, who finds donating to the Fund a good way to give back to the alma mater and provide substantial support for the fellow students.

By now, around 3,000 alumni have donated and supported the Alumni Scholarship and Bursary Fund, helping fellow students along their learning journey.
