Criminal Laws

Mr Wong graduated from the Government and Public Administration Department of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He obtained the Postgraduate Certificate in Laws (PCLL) from the University of Hong Kong.

A counsel in Hong Kong since 1993. He is also a mediator.

Mr Wong specializes in criminal cases. He will share cases and talk about how to protect rights when one is involved in criminal investigation and how to deal with civil claim by way of mediation.

The Alumni Affairs Office of the Public Affairs Unit has recently raised money for the Alumni Scholarship and Bursary Fund. There were totally 172 alumni and students supporting the events and together they donated $102,500. As a token of appreciation, the Alumni Affairs Office invited them to attend three talks, at which volunteer speakers shared their valuable experiences and highlighted some of the legal issues commonly encountered at work or in everyday life. Each talk was attended by about 150 people. The talk on 'Criminal Laws' conducted by Mr Kevin Wong, a barrister, on 30 May introduced the investigation procedures of criminal cases. Mr Wong stressed that people have the right to silence when being investigated by law enforcement officers. However, that right can be overridden under Section 183 of the Securities and Futures Ordinance in an investigation by the Securities and Futures Commission. All donations received will go to the Alumni Scholarship and Bursary Fund to provide assistance to outstanding or financially-needed students. The Fund will be matched 100% by the Mr. Vincent Woo Matching Donation Fund.
