The latest fund-raising effort of the Alumni Affairs Office of the Public Affairs Unit for the Alumni Scholarship and Bursary Fund has received a positive response. There were totally 66 alumni and students supporting the events and altogether they donated about $112,570. As a token of appreciation, the Alumni Affairs Office invited them to attend three talks, at which volunteer speakers elaborated on the principles of keeping a balanced diet, and shared tips on maintaining good health. Each talk attracted an audience of more than 120 people.

Ms Jessa Chow, an Accredited Practising Dietitian of Dietitians Association of Australia and a dietitian of NutraCare Consultancy Ltd, made a presentation on 'Eat Fit!' on 26 October. Ms Chow illustrated how to read nutrition labels and explained the harm of trans fat. She also showed a fact sheet of food items with high hidden calories. For instance, there is no big difference in the amount of calories in a piece of dark chocolate, milk chocolate or white chocolate. Participants were given the tips on how to choose low-fat food and healthy snacks.

All donations received will go to the Alumni Scholarship and Bursary Fund to provide assistance to outstanding or financially-needed students. The Fund will be matched 100% by the Mr. Vincent Woo Matching Donation Fund.
