Alumni Events and Activities Wellness Walk x Homecoming Day 2024 Event Highlights

In celebration of HKMU's 35th Anniversary, Development and Alumni Affairs Office and HKMU Alumni Association jointly organised the HKMU Wellness Walk x Homecoming Day 2024 on 13 April 2024 (Saturday) to showcase the University's latest developments to alumni, students and friends of the University. The event recorded a total of 250 participants joining the day.

To kick-start the event, the Opening Ceremony was officiated by Pro-Chancellor Dr Eddy C. Fong, Council Chairman Ir Dr Conrad Wong Tin-cheung, President Prof. Paul Lam Kwan-sing and President of HKMU Alumni Association Mr Leung Kwok-shing. The presence of Dr Katie Shu, an alumna, honorary graduate and a supportive donor of HKMU, added to the significance of the occasion.

Council Chairman Ir Dr Conrad Wong warmly welcomed the participants and introduced the new campus site as “A Hub for Community Health and Wellness”, which echoed the theme of the Event. President Prof. Paul Lam shared the excited news of HKMU becoming the first University of Applied Sciences in Hong Kong and encouraged alumni to support the University's ongoing development and achievements. Mr Leung Kwok-shing represented alumni, expressing gratitude to his alma mater and extending an invitation to fellow alumni to stay connected with their alma mater for the University's continuous development.

Prior to the start of the Walk, the physiotherapist from the School of Nursing and Health Studies led the participants in stretching exercises, preparing them for the journey ahead. With the sounding of the starter horns by Dr Eddy C. Fong, the Wellness Walk commenced, with the crowd following his lead from Jockey Club Campus, through the Main Campus, the proposed new campus site, and finally arriving at the Jockey Club Institute of Healthcare. The route was designed for participants to have a glimpse of all our campuses, including the new campus site on their way.

Upon completing the Walk, each participant received a medal as a token of their accomplishment. They were then invited to join the Homecoming Day at the Jockey Club Institute of Healthcare. A set of souvenirs was distributed to all participants joining the Homecoming Day to add merriment to the activity. Guided tours were organised for alumni and their families to explore the facilities, which included a variety of professional laboratories. Fun-filling activities like aromatherapy workshops and health assessments were well received by participants. Throughout the event, the alumni gained a better understanding of their alma mater and the importance of the new campus site for the development of health and wellness in the community.
