"Encountering Quyi - The Inheritance and Innovation of Traditional Arts" Seminar (Apr 30, 2024)

Ina Ho Cantonese Opera Research Centre and the Tin Ka Ping Chinese Culture Center co-hosted a seminar titled 「遇見曲藝——傳統藝術的傳承與創新」 (“Encountering Quyi – The Inheritance and Innovation of Traditional Arts”) on 30 April 2024, delivered by renowned Cantonese opera singer and pipa player, Ms Chen Lingyu. Dr Kelly Chan served as the host of the seminar. Ms Chen began by sharing her personal experience in learning the artistry, and subsequently discussed the artistic characteristics of different styles of Cantonese opera, and shared her Cantonese opera teaching experiences and her vision for the future development of the artistry. Professor Charles Kwong Che-leung, Dean of A&SS, expressed his gratitude to Ms. Chen for her efforts in promoting the art of Cantonese opera. The seminar was warmly received and greatly appreciated by the audience, with over 80 attendees.
