"Film and Life Series (2025 Spring Term)"-Screening and Post-screening Sharing

The fourth session of “Film and Life Series (2025 Spring Term)” was held at the Golden Scene Cinema on the evening of 28 February 2025. Orgainsed by Professor Eva Man Kit-wah, Acting Dean of the School of Arts and Social Sciences, the event featured a screening of the film “The Way We Talk” (2024). The film’s director, Mr Adam Wong Sau-ping, and the lead actress, Ms Chung Suet-ying, joined as guests. Following the screening, Dr Timmy Chen Chih-ting and Dr Angela Law Chin-fung hosted a sharing session.
“The Way We Talk” narrates the stories of three young individuals with hearing impairments. Although they encounter many difficulties along the way, they guide each other on the journey of self-discovery. Ms Chung Suet-ying also won the Best Leading Actress at the 61st Golden Horse Awards for this film.
During the sharing session, Director Adam Wong and Ms Chung Suet-ying discussed various aspects of the film, including the sound design, the process of creating the ending animation, the character settings, the relationships between the three characters, and the perspective and inspiration behind writing the lyrics of the theme song. Students also shared their views and feelings about the film. The event attracted many faculty members and students from the university, filling the venue to capacity. Participants eagerly engaged with the guests during the interactive session, asking questions and sharing their perspectives, which created a lively and inspiring atmosphere.
