Programme description

This programme is popular with rank and file members of the law enforcement services. It provides all-round training in the fields of law enforcement and security management. For rank and file members of the Hong Kong Police Force, the Correctional Services Department, and the Customs and Excise Departments, the Diploma is a stepping stone towards obtaining special credit exemptions when they go on to enroll in the Bachelor of Social Sciences with Honours in Law Enforcement and Security Management.

Programme requirement

HDLESM2 — Pathway 2

Note : This programme is suitable for HKCC, HKPC, CLECMCF and CLESMCF graduates.

Graduates must successfully complete at least 90 credits, including the 30 credits completed for the CLESMCF awarded by the OUHK under the partnership between the OUHK and the Hong Kong Police Force or the CLECMCF awarded by OUHK under the partnership between OUHK and the Customs and Excise Department, and the other 60 credits as follows:

Choosing the first courses to get started

Depending on total credit exemption granted, students may or may not need to take foundation level courses. For those who need to do so, the course SOSC A121C Foundations of Social Sciences: Psychology (社會科學基礎課程:心理學) or SOSC A122C Foundations of Social Sciences: Sociology (社會科學基礎課程:社會學) is highly recommended. Students whneed improvement could also consider taking the course ENGL A101 University English Writing Skills . Students who do not need to take foundation level courses are advised to begin with courses such as LESM A201 Hong Kong Criminal Justice System , LESM A202 Police and Society , LESM A203 Psychology for Law Enforcement , and LESM A204 Security Practice and Management .

Students should consult the academic staff for

  • feel that their English language skills course selection if they intend to apply for credit transfer from a recognized tertiary institution.
