- Develops and enhances students' analytical and research skills, particularly those related to the analysis of crime control and social policies with reference to the contexts of the global world in general and Greater China in particular
- Familiarizes students with the human dynamics and issues in crime control and policing with criminological knowledge
- Enhances the knowledge of learners who serve as practitioners in crime control and social policy in both governmental and non-governmental agents who want to enhance their knowledge in these policy areas
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the programme, students will be able to:
- Consolidate in-depth knowledge of the nature of crime and its control as well as social policies;
- Develop an extended critical understanding of the interconnectedness of the policy areas of crime control and social welfare;
- Apply the acquired knowledge in analysing a wide range of current issues in social and crime control policies in the global context, in particular Greater China; and
- Obtain knowledge of the logic and procedures of scientific research on criminology and social policy studies, as well as evaluating the validity of research design and arguments of academic studies in the above disciplines.
