- Equips students with the knowledge and skills to comprehend issues pertinent to global and public governance, which are often closely intertwined nowadays
- A multi-disciplinary programme involving studies of politics, economics, and China and Hong Kong studies
- Built on two major emphases: (a) international politics and global governance and (b) politics and governance of China and Hong Kong
- Graduates will be particularly competitive in the job market for positions directly related to global policy analysis in both the public and private sectors; research positions in universities or think tanks, and the mass media; and international governmental and non-governmental organizations.
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the programme, students will be able to:
- Apply knowledge of politics, global governance, and economics to analyse global and public governance issues in their daily life;
- Critically review and assess literature on international politics, global governance, and the politics and governance of China and Hong Kong;
- Critically analyse processes and phenomena of globalization and identify the impacts of globalization on China's and Hong Kong's governing process;
- Review roles of international organizations (both governmental and non-governmental) on addressing global and local issues, and evaluate the contribution of global governance to the resolving of global and local issues; and
- Undertake independent learning and study of global and public governance issues using appropriate research methodologies.
