Biography

Richard Hrankai (Ph.D) is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Management and Strategy, Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU). Prior joining HKMU as a faculty member, he was an Assistant Professor at the Department of Tourism and Service Management of Modul University Vienna in Austria. Richard completed his doctoral studies at the School of Hotel and Tourism Management, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and earned his Master degree from Edinburgh Napier University in Scotland.

Richard is a specialist in applying cognitive theories in decision-making contexts related to the consumption of tourism and hospitality services and experiences. His research utilizes state-of-the-practice experimental and data modelling techniques to analyse and predict choice behaviour. His latest research investigates the importance of intermodal pubic transport systems in driving tourist flows to peripheral attractions at urban destinations.

Richard's teaching expertise involves the delivery of several courses in the domain of hospitality management, resulting in positive evaluations by students. In particular, he is an expert in hotel facility management, with the focus on hotel asset management, involving the management of the lodging investments to meet the objectives of the ownership.
