Biography

Dr. Ava Xingmeng HUANG is a senior lecturer in Sports and eSports Management in Lee Shau Kee School of Business and Administration at Hong Kong Metropolitan University. Her particular interests lie on Olympic Movement, international sport policy, social issues in elite sport, and dance. 

Ava holds a PhD in elite sport policy, MSc in international sport management, and BEd in dance. Her doctoral thesis focuses on the Olympic gender equality policy implementation in national sport governing bodies. During her PhD study, she served as the researcher in United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation Paris Headquarters (UNESCO-Paris) for the project of eliminating doping in sport.

Before pursuing an academic career, Ava was a professional DanceSport athlete and competitive ten dancer (standard dances & latin dances) with the achievement of national champion in China. She also cares deeply about athlete/coach development and empowerment in sport especially dance industry.
