Programme description

This programme equips students with practical knowledge and skills in business management, corporation administration, and secretarial practice. The degree helps corporate administrators and company secretaries to advance in their careers, and is suitable for managerial and professional personnel working in commerce, statutory boards and government departments.

Students pursuing an Honours degree will gain a broader perspective as well as greater depth in the area, and will enhance their research and practical skills.


Programme intended learning outcomes

  1. Explain and critically review business theories and concepts to identify issues, analyse situations, and develop solutions for multi-faceted problems in organisational settings.
  2. Critically evaluate issues and make informed judgements in view of the organisation's strategies as well as ethical considerations.
  3. Make meaningful contributions as a leader and member in a team setting and communicate effectively.
  4. Command knowledge of the laws and regulations in corporate governance and recognize the best practices for the purpose of regulatory compliance;
  5. Integrate and apply advanced analytical skills, corporate governance theories and concepts to identify issues and situations that prepare directors, company secretaries, and professionals in corporate governance field to strengthen accountability and sustainability of their organizations.
  6. Assimilate and synthesize new knowledge in corporate governance to facilitate decision making in corporate secretaryship and good corporate governance of business and non-business organizations.

  ~ MGT B344 and MGT B345 will be combined into a 10-credit course, MGT B347, starting from the 2021 Autumn Term, subject to final approval by the University.
(d) an additional 20 credits, as necessary, from any English and/or Chinese Foundation, Middle or Higher level courses offered by the University.

Students are required to complete 160 credits but they may opt to graduate with the Bachelor of Business Administration in Corporate Administration [BBACA] (120 credits) after completing the required number of credits and fulfilling the requirements of the programme regulations.

Choosing the first courses to get started

Undergraduate students taking the BBA programmes in English are recommended to begin their BBA studies with one of the School's introductory courses such as BUS B103 English and Communications for Business I, BIS B123 Business Computing Applications.

They are then free to complete a general degree, or to specialize in a range of business disciplines.
