Programme description

This progarmme is specially designed for language teachers and teachers who would like to explore the nature of drama and its use across the curriculum. The programme includes a course in drama in the curriculum; courses in language studies, in which students can choose between English and Chinese language; and a course in the education area.

Programme requirements

MEDDLE1– Pathway 1

Programme-specific entry requirements:

(a) a recognized degree (or its equivalent); and

(b) normally, a recognized teacher’s qualification and at least two years’ teaching or training experience (but applicants who do not have this qualification/experience may be admitted where the School of Education and Languages considers their background to be suitable for Master’s level study in Education).

Number of credits: 60

Students MUST take the CHIN E811CF and or ENGL E810F course in the 2022 Autumn Term if they have not taken them before and if they intend to complete the course(s) to fulfil the graduation requirement. The CHIN E811CF and or ENGL E810F course(s) will be restructured after their last presentation in the 2022 Autumn Term and students will NOT be able to fulfil the graduation requirement of the Master of Education in Drama and Language Education (MEDDLE) if they take the restructured CHIN E811CF and or ENGL E810F course(s).

Advanced standing/Credit exemption

Students with recognized relevant postgraduate qualifications may apply for advanced standing/credit exemption. A maximum of 30 credits may be granted.

MEDDLE2 — Pathway 2

(c) have completed a Postgraduate Programme in Subject Knowledge (PGSK) for English/Chinese Language Teachers approved by the EDB.

Number of credits: 40

Students MUST take the CHIN E811CF and or ENGL E810F course in the 2022 Autumn Term if they have not taken them before and if they intend to complete the course(s) to fulfil the graduation requirement. The CHIN E811CF and or ENGL E810F course(s) will be restructured after their last presentation in the 2022 Autumn Term and students will NOT be able to fulfil the graduation requirement of the Master of Education in Drama and Language Education (MEDDLE) if they take the restructured CHIN E811CF and or ENGL E810F course(s).
