Research
The University recognises the importance of research in informing teaching. In addition to our commitment to foster an environment conducive to academic research, we will strengthen the capacity for knowledge transfer, which will contribute to the development of the Hong Kong metropolis.
HKMU has been successful in enhancing its research capacity, thanks to the provision of funding opportunities by the Government. Following the establishment of research institutes and centres, we have identified a number of strategic research areas. We will focus our resources on supporting research in these areas, as well as collaboration among faculty members and across disciplines to develop synergy, ensure sustainability, and nurture impactful results in strategic research areas over time.
We recognise the importance of research students in supporting faculty research. We are in the process of building a sustainable team of research postgraduate students to conduct research in strategic research areas. More effort and resources will be in place to facilitate this development.

Infrastructure and policies are being codified, and we will continue our efforts to promote knowledge transfer so that the results of our academic research and creative projects can be put to good use and commercialisation for the advancement of the metropolis and beyond.
