We’re now in the second month of the term, you may be about to prepare your first assignment of the year. Do you know that the Library offers a lot of resources to help you get what you need for your assignment? We will show you what we have for you in this issue.

Finding information

1. E-Library

To begin with, you can use our E-Library to find library resources such as books, journals, newspapers and multimedia materials in both printed and electronic format relevant to your study and research.

If you are looking for books/ebooks/journals:

When you have a topic in mind, enter the keyword of your topic in the search box and click “Library Holdings“.

Use the options under “Refine My Results” at the right hand side of the search result list to refine the search results to your desired material type.

If you are looking for a specific journal article or journal articles on a topic:

If you already know the article title, you can enter the article title in the search box and click “Articles” to search. You can also enter the keyword in the search box to find relevant articles.

2. Databases

If you want to do a more detailed research on your topic, or if you need some specific information, for examples, statistics data, company information or news articles, you have to find them in specific databases.

There are different types of databases:

Abstracting/Indexing (A&I) databases	Full-text databases
These databases provide citations (such as author, title of the journal, title of the article, volume and page numbers) and a brief summary of the article.	When you find the citations or bibliographic information, you may be able to read the full-text online.

Emerald Journals	Mainly on management, includes: strategy; leadership; library and information management; marketing and human resource management, etc.

ScienceDirect	Medical science, business, psychology, science, education, social sciences, etc.

On our A-Z Databases list, we provide brief description for each database so that you can learn more about it. Besides, you can use the subject or database type filter to help you find a suitable database.

Books about writing skills

In our E-Library, you can find books and e-books on writing papers or reports, and also on English grammar and writing skills. You may try to use these keywords to look for books on writing skills:

Referencing your resources

You may find and use lots of resources in your paper. Before handing in your paper, remember to prepare a reference list based on the citation style as specified by your teacher.

We have prepared a citation guide to help you better understand what citation is and introduce tools that can help you to manage your citations.
