Issue No. 61 (Sep 2020)

Time flies, it is the start of a new term again! The Library welcomes all new faces, and same do we miss those familiar faces. We wish everything is going fine with you!

Undoubtedly it was a very hard and unusual year in the past semesters, hard to get by and hard to forget. But even such harsh days may not go sooner the way we expected, what remains unchanged is the Library will always be here to support your learning pursuit all the same. Though you may not visit the Library as frequently as those good days, we will not stop our efforts to make the Library a better place for you. We had organized a series of activities, and also made improvements on our services and facilities. We hope these efforts will make the Library an even more desirable place for learning and studying!

May we take this opportunity to wish you a great mind and sound body in this new academic year!

Alignment of weekend and public holiday opening hours

Student Library Assistants Programme – one step further to engage our students!

The Library started the Student Library Assistants Programme in 2018 to engage our students in our daily operations and special projects.

Our Student Library Assistants serve as our Library Ambassadors to conduct guided tours to visitors and freshmen. They also helped in the daily operations or some special projects of the Library. We would also invite our Student Library Assistants to give us their opinions about the Library services. One example was that some of them had joined our focus group meetings for the Library Learning Space Enhancement Project and provided feedback useful to our planning of the Project.

From their contract end questionnaires, we learned that our Student Library Assistants enjoyed their work in the Library. They also expressed their views and comments about the programme in the questionnaires.

Our Student Library Assistants are great help to our library staff. We value their suggestions which would help us to endeavor for more improvement. Each year, we will present a Certificate of Appreciation to those who would leave their services due to contract end or upon graduation.
Would you like to be a member of our Student Library Assistants and help the Library to become a better place for learning and studying? We would recruit new members every year, just stay tuned and watch out for our news on the recruitment!

Thanks to all our new and serving Student Library Assistants! All the best to those who will graduate soon!

Creative achievements of our students

We were thrilled to receive the news earlier that several literary works of our students from the Department of Creative Arts, School of Arts & Social Sciences were being selected and published in the literature journals. This is a great recognition of our students in their writing endeavors. These two literary journals are highly recommended by the School and subscribed by the Library. Why not go and check out their writings?
