With the replacement, the self-checkout stations in both campus libraries now carry the same model, providing efficient self-service for borrowing books. Come to try our new self-checkout station!

New access control gates

In line with the University's new campus access control, the entrance gates in both campus libraries have been replaced. DIY Studio

Need to make a video for presentation but don't have the equipment and the filming skill? No worries, the Library can help you. This summer, we had set up a brand new “DIY Studio” in Ho Sik Yee Library at the Jockey Club Campus. The Studio, equipped with High-Definition video camera and high performance computers, can allow you to record your presentation, fuse your slides with the background and output it to a single video file. You can simply output the video file to your portable storage device or your Zoom account cloud recording and the job is done. Fast and simple!

By using our “DIY Studio” service, you will never have to worry about borrowing and setting up equipment for solo filming again. Just go to the University's Online Booking System for Amenities (OBSA) to reserve your sessions, and come to the Service Counter at the Ho Sik Yee Library to confirm your reservation on time.

For more information about the DIY Studio and the user guide, please visit the website here.

Power Bank Loan Service

Mobile phone or tablet ran out of battery while rushing between classes? No worries, the Library can help you. In this summer, the Library, Finance and Facilities Management Office, and Students' Union jointly introduced the power bank loan service. You can check out power banks from the ChargeSpot rental stations at the Stanley Ho Library, the Ho Sik Yee Library, and 1/F lobby of the Jockey Club Institute of Healthcare.

You can get a discounted rate at the above rental stations. Moreover, the power banks can be returned to any ChargeSpot rental stations in your vicinity.

Each power bank has a capacity of 5,000mAh (DC5V/2A). It comes with three types of cables: Lightning (MFi-certified), Micro-USB and Type-C. Users need to download the ChargeSpot app and create an account in order to rent a power bank and make payments.

To learn more about this service, please visit the Library website.

Featured library resources

The Library has abundant print and electronic resources including books, journals, databases, as well as dissertations, online multimedia resources, etc. which are searchable via our library resources discovery platform – LibSearch. While most of our collection are academic-related resources that mainly support your teaching, learning and research activities, there are also materials which you can read them for leisure. Here are some of our recommendations:

Library student trainee programme

Every year, the Library will recruit helpers through our Student Library Assistants Programme. Participating students will have the opportunities to learn about the daily operations of the Library, and extend their learning beyond classroom. Before the end of the academic year, to show our gratitude to the time and efforts spent by our Student Library Assistants, our Librarian had presented Certificates of Appreciation to our graduating Student Library Assistants. We wish them all the best and may their dreams come true!

In August, we greeted our newly recruited and serving Student Library Assistants. Helping them to have a more thorough understanding of the Library services and facilities, we had organized two training sessions. During the first training session, we had invited Prof. Ricky Kwok, our Vice President (Students and Support), to have a sharing with all our Student Library Assistants. The sharing session served as a platform for exchanging views and sharing experiences. Our Librarian and Division Heads joined the sharing session as well.

Together with our Student Library Assistants, we hope you will visit the Library often and make good use of our resources and services!
