The Library, in collaboration with LiPACE and the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in Hong Kong and Macau, hosted the “Nigerian Fashion: Image and Style from Western Africa” today (11 March 2025) at the Ho Sik Yee Library. The event showcased the exotic clothing, music, arts, and cuisine of Nigeria, allowing participants to experience the culture and customs of this West African nation, known as the “Birthplace of African Black Culture.”

We are honoured to have Consul General Mr. Oludare E. Folowosele and Vice Consul Mr. Lawali D. Muhammad from the Consulate General of Nigeria in Hong Kong join us at the Library event, introducing students to Nigeria’s rich cultural resources. Our Provost, Professor Reggie Kwan, and Vice President (Administration and Corporate Development), Professor Charles Kwong, also delivered welcome speeches at the event.

The event featured a unique Nigerian fashion show, presenting colorful traditional attire that highlighted the lifestyle and ethnic identity of West African people. Students enjoyed African drum performances, tasted Nigerian cuisine, tried on Nigerian accessories, and explored local books and traditional musical instruments.
