Hong Kong Metropolitan University Li Ka Shing School of Professional & Continuing Education (HKMU LiPACE) collaborates with the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in Hong Kong, with the aim of introducing students to the vibrant cultural traditions of Nigeria. This initiative encompasses various facets of Nigerian culture, including its fashion, music, art, and cuisine. This initiative seeks to introduce HKMU LiPACE students to the customs and traditions of this West African country, widely regarded as the “origin of African Black culture”.
Today's event features the presence of Ambassador Oludare E. Folowosele, Consul General of Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Mr. Lawali D. Muhammad, Consul (Political and Culture) of Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, who will introduce students to Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage. Additionally, Professor Reggie Kwan Ching-ping, Provost, HKMU and Professor Charles Kwong Che-leung, Vice President (Administration and Corporate Development), HKMU, will deliver welcome speeches. The event includes an exclusive Nigerian fashion show, showcasing colourful traditional outfits that highlight the lifestyles and cultures of West African people. Furthermore, students also have the opportunity to experience African drum performances, Nigerian cuisine, Nigerian accessories, and to learn about local books and traditional instruments.
Professor Reggie Kwan Ching-ping, Provost of HKMU states, it is also a pleasant surprise for our University to have the honour of welcoming back the Consuls General of South Africa, Egypt, and Zimbabwe altogether – all of them we have previously collaborated with. Mr. Mojalefa Mogono, Mr. Baher Sheweikhi, Mr. Desmond Makosa, thank you for taking the time to join us today. That being said, we are truly blessed to have all 4 African Consuls General here. I am sure today’s event will be a splendid showcase of the rich cultures and traditions of Nigeria and Nigerian fashion”.

Events like this not only celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Nigeria but also provide invaluable learning opportunities for our students”.
HKMU LiPACE endeavors to promote “Internationalization in Place”, “Intercultural Awareness” and “Inclusiveness”, through a series of “Three-I Initiatives” activities on campus. Since September 2024, LiPACE has collaborated with various consulates in Hong Kong to host immersive experiential activities and extend invitations to consulate personnel to share their country's cultural traditions and personal international experiences. Since January 2025, LiPACE has partnered with the Consulates of Finland, Zimbabwe, Egypt, Hungary, Japan, India and Germany to bring their traditional cultures, festivals, and cultural heritage to the HKMU LiPACE Kwai Hing campus, allowing LiPACE students to experience global cultures in Hong Kong and build intercultural and inclusive awareness.
香港都會大學李嘉誠專業進修學院(HKMU LiPACE)與尼日利亞駐港總領事館合作,於香港都會大學何息夷圖書館舉辦尼日利亞時裝表演文化活動,通過尼日利亞充滿異國風情的服裝、音樂、藝術及美食,感受這個素有「非洲黑人文化誕生地」之稱的西非國家的風土人情。
今天尼日利亞駐香港總領事館總領事Oludare E. Folowosele 大使聯同領事Lawali D. Muhammad先生親臨香港都會大學何息夷圖書館,為同學介紹尼日利亞豐富的文化資源。香港都會大學學術副校長關清平教授以及副校長 (行政及機構發展) 鄺志良教授更會為活動致歡迎辭。此外,活動舉行了一場在港難得一見的尼日利亞時裝表演,通過色彩繽紛的民族服裝,介紹西非人民的生活習慣及民族性。同學可以欣賞到非洲鼓表演、品嚐尼日利亞美食、試穿尼日利亞配飾,以及認識當地的書籍及傳統樂器。
香港都會大學學術副校長關清平教授表示:「我們很榮幸再次和去年曾經合作過的南非、埃及和津巴布韋的總領事見面。非常感謝南非總領事 Mr. Mojalefa Mogono,埃及總領事Mr. Baher Sheweikhi,以及津巴布韋領事Mr. Desmond Makosa抽空出席,讓我們今天能夠與四位非洲總領事一同體驗今天的尼日利亞時裝表演和其他文化活動。」

HKMU LiPACE 積極推動「在地國際化」(Internationalization in Place)、「跨文化意識」(Intercultural Awareness)和「共融」(Inclusiveness),為學生舉辦一系列「3-I 文化倡議活動」。自2024年9月起,LiPACE 開始與各國駐港領事館合作,舉辦各式各樣的沉浸式體驗活動,並邀請領事館人員親身到場,與學生分享各國文化傳統和個人國際經驗。至今LiPACE 已先後與芬蘭、津巴布韋、埃及、匈牙利、日本、印度和德國駐港領事館合作,透過多元化的活動,以及旅遊、電影、書籍和美食等不同媒介,將當地文化習俗和風土人情帶到 HKMU LiPACE葵興校園。每場活動均座無虛席,反應熱烈。
