PSCCEAC Continuing Education in Arboriculture Courses: Inspection of Basic Structure and Health Conditions of Trees

The Development Bureau launched the Registration Scheme for Tree Management Personnel (RSTMP) in December 2020. Qualified in-service practitioners are encouraged to register for the five types of tree management personnel on a voluntary basis. Each registration is valid for 3 years.

For renewal of registration, tree management personnel have to fulfil the minimum Continuing Education for Arboriculture (CEA) hour requirements as well as those on specified core competency areas for individual key job functions. The course is developed to meet the requirement of Registered Tree Climbers for CEA.

 

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the programme, students should be able to:

• Explain and analyze signs that reflect health conditions of trees;

• Apply professional knowledge to observe and inspect the basic structure and health conditions of trees;

• Employ simple tools to carry out inspection of the basic health signs and structure of trees; and

• Produce a truthful record of the health conditions and potential structural problems of trees.

Programme Features

• A recognised Continuing Education in Arboriculture course under RSTMP

• Participants will earn 3 CEA hours upon completion (in the job function of Survey, inspection and risk assessment)

• Taught by experienced practitioners

Target Audience

• Registered Tree Climbers under RSTMP

• Other types of registered tree management personnel under RSTMP　(Priority will be given to the Registered Tree Climbers under RSTMP on first-come-first-served basis.)

Admission Requirements

Applicants are normally required to meet the following requirements:

• Registered Climbers under RSTMP

• Other types of registered tree management personnel under RSTMP (Priority will be given to the Tree Climbers under RSTMP on first-come-first-served basis.)

Remarks: Applicants are required to submit a copy of their registration documents (e.g. registration card, registration letter, etc.) for checking their registration validity under RSTMP.

Assessment

Assessment will be in the form of a written assessment. The passing mark is 70 (out of 100).

Award

A Certification of Completion will be issued by LiPACE to those who successfully achieve a pass in the written assessment, plus 100% attendance.
