Introduction

This programme aims to equip healthcare professionals with the advanced knowledge and skills essential for implementing evidence-based practice, translating research findings into clinical practice, tackling complex healthcare challenges, advancing their professional knowledge and development, and eventually assuming leadership roles in their respective fields.

The programme strives to improve service quality and reduce health-related burdens by equipping graduates who can contribute to healthcare systems in Hong Kong, the Greater Bay Area, the wider Mainland, and globally. These graduates will be equipped to meet the evolving needs of clinical science.

Programme Aims

Upon successful completion of the programme, students should be able to:

  • Apply updated knowledge and skills in hospital and community settings to advance clinical practice, holistic care and service;
  • Critically evaluate existing evidence, translate evidence into clinical practice, and develop research to advance clinical services and enhance healthcare outcomes;
  • Develop and apply effective strategies for implementing evidence-based programmes to improve processes and outcomes in health services;
  • Integrate practice, education and research to address the health needs of society more effectively;
  • Demonstrate leadership by optimising resources and enhancing the quality and safety of clinical practice and health services.

Admission Requirements

  1. Hold a Master's degree in a health-related discipline, including but not limited to medicine, nursing, pharmacy, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, radiotherapy, midwifery, dietetics, nutrition, social work, medical technology, laboratory science, genetic counselling, physician associate or health administration;
  2. Demonstrate English proficiency as specified by the University’s admission requirements; and
  3. Satisfy the application evaluation with
    i. a statement of overall career goals and specific research interests; and
    ii. an oral justification of their suitability for doctoral education
