Exergaming Research Centre

Funded by the Research Infrastructure Grant under Institutional Development Scheme, Exergaming Research Centre, which incubates gamified intervention using gerontechnology to improve the physical health, cognitive abilities, and emotional health of older adults, was founded in September 2023 to address issues arising from aging population. It will function as a multidisciplinary hub that specifically aims to facilitate research development and provision of research support capacities in exergaming, foster industry-academia collaborations and technology creation in exergaming, and create an infrastructure to implement evidence-based exergaming programmes.

Virtual Reality (VR) CAVE System

Our School is fortunate to be one of the few institutions locally equipped with a Virtual Reality (VR) CAVE System, an immersive VR environment in which students can actively learn key professional and transferable skills using simulated real-world scenarios. Colleagues are currently leading randomised trials to investigate the knowledge, skill, and confidence competence of students, and compare students receiving VR education to those receiving traditional teaching with a view to further strengthening professional training.
