Introduction

HKMU Career Check-in” is a new career initiative for our students. HKMU alumni from various industries and backgrounds will be invited as our guest speakers and facilitators. By participating in diverse activities with different themes, our students will not only be able to connect with industry professionals but also explore their personal potential and career interests through the session.

Discover Cross-Disciplinary Career Opportunities with A&SS Alumni Mentors in "Intangible Cultural Heritage" TODAY!

The Intangible Cultural Heritage of Hong Kong refers to the living heritage practices, traditions, knowledge, and skills that are passed down from generation to generation within the local community. It encompasses a diverse range of cultural expressions, including performing arts, craftsmanship, rituals, festivals, oral traditions, and social practices.

 

Mr. Calvin WONG, A&SS Alumnus, is the key coordinator of the event【非遺六月】from 8 – 10 June 2024. We are honour to invite Mr. Calvin WONG and Mr. Mac KWOK, also an A&SS Alumnus, to be our guest speakers and facilitators at the HKMU Career Check-in 2023/24, introducing the work of "Intangible Cultural Heritage" in Hong Kong, sharing their career journey and working experiences with current students.

 

Our student will not only able to gain career insights from their Alumni Mentors, but also enjoy a World Cultural Heritage Conservation Workshop and a Mini Flower Plaque Workshop to craft their own mini flower plaque and immerse themselves in this ancient art form!

Event Details

Date: 9 June 2024 (Sunday)

Time: 1:30pm – 5:30pm*

*Students are required to arrive at least 5 minutes early at Jao Tsung-I Academy for attendance check

Venue: Jao Tsung-I Academy (800 Castle Peak Road, Mei Foo, Kowloon)

Alumni Speakers and Event Facilitators: Mr. Calvin WONG & Mr. Mac KWOK (A&SS Alumnus)

Quota: 30

Target Students:

  1. HKMU Full time undergraduates in all disciplines and years are welcome 
  2. Students who are eager to explore personal potentials and career interests
  3. Proficient in Chinese (Medium of instruction: Cantonese)

Event Fee: Free of charge

Deposit: HKD $200 (to be refunded one month after successfully completing the entire event)

Application Details

Step 1) HKMU undergraduates in all disciplines and years are welcome! Interested students, please complete the application form by 20 May 2024. *Confirmation emails will be sent to successful applicants on or before 22 May 2024.

Step 2) After receiving the email confirmation, students are required to submit a deposit (HKD $200) to the designated university bank account on or before 26 May 2024. The deposit will be refunded one month after the completion of the entire event.

*A certain amount of quota will be given to undergraduates from School of Arts and Social Sciences (A&SS).

Objectives

  • To expand personal network with professionals and alumni in specific industries
  • An exclusive opportunity to attend the additional events of【非遺六月】on 9 June evening and 10 June (Details to be announced)
  • To participate in the World Cultural Heritage Conservation Workshop FREE OF CHARGE!
  • To craft a mini flower plaque FREE OF CHARGE!
